The dough was already to die for, but I managed to turn most of it in a baking tray full of baked beauties. It’s been a while since I started this diet to detox my digestive system and it is not often that I make homemade cookies, because I simply know what would happens: I would eat it all, because it’s just too good. But this time I paced myself. When the cookies had cooled off, I had a few small ones with a nice cup of tea. They were delicious.
The next day I diligently started my breakfast process with a celery juice cleanse and waited for about half an hour to warm up my oats with nut milk and plenty of seeds. While I was warming that up, my eye spotted the leftover gingerbread cookies and I decided to just have one. And then another one. And then a whole lot of other ones. When my oats were ready, I really enjoyed them and started my day.
It was sunny. It was a beautiful morning. But I didn’t feel it. Something was not quite right. I felt down, not myself and completely lethargic. Although my cookies were ‘healthy’, they were still sweet and the effect of that was immense. I was just not used to that amount of sweetness in the morning anymore. What a wake up call! And what a beautiful side effect to my detox! Although my mind was protesting, I knew what my body needed. I got up and fought this sugar high with a brisk walk outside enjoying that beautiful sunny morning. The best sugar high detox.
